Rich Siegel

Rich is a freelance copywriter/CD in Los Angeles. Before going solo, he was at Y&R, TBWA Chiat/Day, Team One and BBDO. He’s responsible for the above ABC campaign, which Creativity Mag named one of 20 that changed the face of advertising. You know, for me there’s just something magic about the big outdoor campaigns. I remember exactly where I was the first time I saw one of Rich’s ABC boards, on 101 South in San Francisco. I still remember thinking, “Oh man, look at THAT.”

Craig Cooper

Craig is a freelance copywriter/CD in Dallas. Before going freelance, he was ECD/Managing Partner of DDB Dallas, EVP/CD at Flavour, and SVP/ECD at BBDO Toronto. Craig’s site is in-the-making, so you may find an unfinished corner here or a locked door there. And you have to register to view his resumé. But no worries, it’s deep enough to go exploring as is, and I’ve already given you the gist of the rez. To me, someone who hasn’t ventured into the ECD/SVP/MP acronyms yet, one of the coolest things about the site is that you see CD Craig as much as you see CW Craig. He calls out exactly what his role was on each project. Love that.

Max Godsil

Max is a copywriter/CD in Los Angeles. Before going solo he was a CD at TM and Saatchi, and before that he wrote for Vitrorobertson, BBDO and Borders Perrin & Norrander. His site is one long scroll, left to right, and it’s a blast to go through. There’s a ton of great Toyota work, including the genius Unbreakable campaign that won everything. If you haven’t seen the Monster Truck spot, it’s a must.

Mark Cacciatore

Mark is a freelance copywriter/CD in NYC. Before going freelance, he was an ECD, GCD, CD or ACD at oneseven, Saatchi, Y&R, Ammirati, BBDO, and DDB. To go through the work on his site, you first combine two heads representing new school and old school Mark into one mutant creature. Then you grab the mutant creature’s head and slide it down through campaigns that range from classic Cheerios TV to fun interactive banners for Ford.

Troy Lim

Troy is a copywriter/CD at Ogilvy & Mather Singapore, BBDO and Saatchi before that. His work is amazing. As for his site – there are two, a new site and an old site. It’s really interesting to compare them. Portfolio sites seem to fall into two general camps. One, get out of the way and showcase the work. Two, create a site that’s a piece in itself. Troy’s new site is in the first camp, a clean blog that’s super easy to nav. His old site is in the latter camp, and is both gorgeous and fun to play around on.

Grant Smith

Picture-1

Grant is a freelance copywriter/CD at Handsome Advertising, BBDO NY before that, Cliff Freeman before that. He shares his site with creative partner Richard Artdito. Their book almost forced me to break my “one piece per post” rule. Their Red Stripe campaign is amazing. They also did a Budget Moving Truck campaign (in their Alternative Media section) that’s equally amazing. In the end, I choose beer over trucks. Go figure.

Dave Kwasnick

print_02_2

Dave is a CD/writer at Blattner Brunner in Pittsburg. He’s got fantastic campaigns for Zippo and Juicy Fruit on his site. He’s also got campaigns for Consol Energy and Navy Federal Credit Union that are harder working, but clean and smart. It’s nice to see a book with clients/brands that are a little more straight-forward, but who are buying work that’s portfolio-worthy. Tip o’ the Hat.
