David Lieberman

David is a senior copywriter (and fellow Oregon Duck alum) who is on the hunt for his next big thing. Previously, he was at Media.Monks where he “conceptualized, wrote and pitched work that showcases the possibilities and potential of emerging technologies across a variety of channels, working with global innovators at PayPal and Meta — specifically within Reality Labs and WhatsApp.” In addition to tech brands, David’s site also features work for Lululemon, Nike and Jordan from his time at AKQA and Nike. (So many killer brands, sheesh.) Can’t wait to see where David lands!

Ian Miller

Ian is a senior copywriter at Watson Creative in Portland (and an Oregon Duck like MC, go Ducks!). In addition to a bunch of great work, his site shows off his super smart strategic writing—with lots of manifesto and setup writing. So cool to see. Also, don’t miss Ian’s Art page with tons of essays, short stories, and poems that have been featured in variety of publications. Love it.

Zach McKinney

verizon

Zach is a copywriter at R/GA in NYC. (Also a fellow University of Oregon grad, go Ducks!) He’s got a bunch of cool projects for Verizon up on his site, including Find The 8 (above), an AR game that somehow got over 360,000 people to use SnapChat for an average of 31 minutes each. Love the project video they put together for it, too.

Josh Gordon

slim2

Since his first post on MC (04.11.14) right after graduating from Miami Ad School NYC (and University of Oregon before that, go Ducks!), Josh has worked with R/GA, Barker DZP, and RICG. He’s also got a whole new site with projects for SlimFast, IDB Bank, Alcoholics Anonymous, Miele, Mercedes-Benz, and others. Time for an update.

UPDATE: Jim Terry

cow

Since his last post on MC (03.26.12), Jim has moved from Portland to SoCal and added some new work to his site. Time for an update! It should also be noted that Jim is an Oregon grad, as is MC. So, while he’s now living the high life in Hermosa Beach or wherever, his head is firmly on the ground. Or his feet. No, his feet are in the sand. His head, then. On the ground. (Ahem.) Go Ducks!

UPDATE: Matt Heath

Matt is a copywriter/Creative Executive at CAA in Los Angeles. He’s been busy since his last MC post about a year ago, including a stint on the writing team of Eastbound & Down Season 3, stemming from the ad work he did for the show. (Awesome.) Don’t miss his Fake Craigslist Ads, especially the last one, “I don’t like the baby we adopted (Beverly Hills)” and his subsequent visit from non-fake police detectives. Hilarious.

University of Oregon Week – Nickolaus Sugai

Nick shares a couple of campaigns with Niki Naboulsi (featured Tuesday), as happens when you’re in school, sharing resources, collaborating, etc. MC likes the teamwork. Anyway, also on Nick’s site be sure to check out: NASA, Fantasy Trainwrecks, and U of O Advertising. Love to see all of the real-life books being made and shot for portfolios. Love to see print alive and well, in any form. Very cool.

University of Oregon Week – Niki Naboulsi

Oregon is Oregon, and you know when you go through an Oregon site there’s going to be some stuff that’s just out. Because that’s how Ducks do it. You also know you’re going to find stuff that’s just fun. Like Niki’s “Sweaty Little Secrets” campaign for Champion sweatpants. Or a page of pics of Oregon students, and when you hover over them, they laugh. Good times.

Bob Rickert

Bob is a copywriter/CD in Boulder and a fellow Duck (go Ducks!). In his Outdoor section, he has a campaign for the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame that features “the longest copy outdoor ads in American advertising.” About 10,500 words each. That’s what we like to see on MC. Only one complaint. Wish we could zoom in to read all of those beautiful words.

Jason Siciliano

MC is two years old this month. To celebrate, I’m doing something I’ve never done before. I’m posting my own site. Which is both exciting and terrifying. To everyone who’s sent a link to MC over the past two years, the CWs, friends of CWs, schools, students, CDs, ADs, spouses, and that one Mom, thank you. It’s been a blast. Let’s keep it going.

Niels West

Niels is a senior copywriter at Ogilvy & Mather NY. (He’s also a fellow Oregon Duck. Go Ducks!) Lots of cool stuff on his site, including work for IBM, UN Climate Change Conference, US Open, and the Office of National Drug Control Policy. By the way – how great does Vimeo HD video look? Now that you can watch Vimeo on iPhone, it may be time to officially crown it as the best option for portfolios.

UPDATE: Sean McLaughlin

Sean has moved to W+K NYC from Anomaly. It makes me so happy to write that. Not that he left Anomaly. Anomaly is awesome. But Sean and I went to Oregon together, and there’s a bond between Oregon and W+K that’s deep. Seeing Sean land at Wieden makes everything right in the world. Big congrats, Sean. And for the zillionth time, thanks for Reservoir Dogs and The Afghan Whigs.

Matt Morin

Picture-3

Matt is a San Francisco copywriter who, as it happens, was a college buddy of mine at U of Oregon. You know what’s not fair about writers like Matt? Writers who worked at good interactive shops like T3? Their slick sites that you just know were done in 30 minutes by one of their punk interactive buddies. Whatever, Matt. The rest of us use blogs. Free blogs. Like writers are supposed to use. Jerk.
