Steve Grimes

termites

Steve is a copywriter/creative director at The Richards Group in Dallas. All kinds of killer projects on his site, from “Nothing good happens after midnight. Except Denny’s.” to “Hacker” for Motel 6 (so perfectly relevant at the time of this posting!). Don’t miss his terrifying “Termites are monsters” spot for Terminix (above). Yikes!

Andrew Payton

pop

Andrew is a copywriter/GCD at Story in NYC. Since his last post on MC (way back on 09.21.11), he’s got a new site, new gig, and a whole bunch of new work for clients like Verizon, Audible, Vevo, Google, Chapstick, and Mentos. Don’t miss his beautiful campaign for Popsicle (above) celebrating summer. Is it really almost over? How’d that happen so fast?

Todd Mitchell

barrel

Todd is a freelance copywriter/CD in Boston. Since his last post on MC over six years ago (05.10.10, so long ago), Todd’s been busy. Like, super busy. Including lighting the 26-foot high Jack Daniel’s Barrel Tree (above), which looks like inspiration for MC’s 2016 front yard holiday display. Yes, please. Welcome back, Mr. Mitchell.

Elliott Allen

cat

Elliott is a freelance copywriter/CD in Charleston, South Carolina. (Previously at Vitro in San Diego.) Huge variety of clients on his site, including Toyo Tires, Asics, Taylor Guitars, Newcastle Brown Ale, Lifeproof, Boston Scientific, Massey Ferguson, and Petco (above). If you love pets (oh stop, you know you do) don’t miss his video “Petco Now Launch.” Adorbs.

Keith Saunders

dsw

Keith is a freelance copywriter/ACD in NYC. He’s got a crazy mix of projects in his portfolio, including the above National Geographic-inspired video for DSW. Which is exactly how MC feel shopping for kicks there. (Nailed it.) He’s also included a page for his Quarter-Career Gap Year, which is just a brilliant idea for all writers. Love it.

Bryan Karr

birds

Bryan is a writer at Venables Bell in San Francisco. Since his last post on MC (4.23.12), he moved to Venables from Leo Burnett Chicago and added new work to his site, including Audi and Skyy Vodka. Love the Audi spot (above). That’s exactly what the world is going to be like once Amazon starts using drones for delivery. Unfortunately, MC only has a Honda. Yikes!

David Locascio

sign2

David is a copywriter/CD in Atlanta. Don’t miss his social campaign for RaceTrac (convenience stores and gas stations in the southern United States) around their “endless bevy of fountain drinks,” for which David got to make up fictitious soda concoctions and name them—the ultimate dream job of every 13-year-old boy who ever lived in the southern United States. Good times.

Rod Goodman

Rod is a copywriter/CD in Louisville who’s been doing the contract/freelance thing for awhile now. It’s interesting to see how permalancers market themselves through their portfolio sites—the difference between selling your skills to land clients/projects versus landing a job. The work is the work, but how it’s presented is so different.

UPDATE: Howard Hill

Howard is a senior CW in Los Angeles. Since his last post on MC (03.28.11) he’s updated from Krop to Cargo and added some killer new work, including pieces for Sony’s Xperia Studio and Americans Elect. About the latter, from Howard: “We tried to use the internet to nominate a president. That one didn’t work out but it was worth a shot because someone’s going to do it eventually.”

Erik Fahrenkopf

Erik is a copywriter/CD at Goodby in San Francisco. He shares a portfolio site with partner/AD Anthony Decarolis, and their work is just ridiculous awesome. MC had a tough time selecting which piece to feature, but you can’t go wrong with Cheetos Flamin’ Hot fingers dialing 911. Brilliant.

UPDATE: Greg Gerstner

Greg is a copywriter/CD at Ogilvy NY. He’s got a brand new site and a bunch of new work to go with it, including an interactive touch wall for IBM at the US Open, and three new spots for IBM. But honestly, there’s so much killer work in Greg’s portfolio, any excuse to post it again is a good excuse.

Bob Rickert

Bob is a copywriter/CD in Boulder and a fellow Duck (go Ducks!). In his Outdoor section, he has a campaign for the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame that features “the longest copy outdoor ads in American advertising.” About 10,500 words each. That’s what we like to see on MC. Only one complaint. Wish we could zoom in to read all of those beautiful words.

Tom Kelly

Tom is a copywriter/ECD at Brand Content in Boston. You know what’s great about portfolio sites? Versus the old portfolio portfolios? The archive section. If they love it, it’s like extra credit. If they don’t love it, it’s like, so what? It’s the archive section. (Plus, for writers, it means being able to include your fave headlines on one-shots, spec ads, oldies, and so-so art directed pieces.) Be sure to check out Tom’s archive section. Some awesome work in there. Glad we got a chance to see it.
